ESSENTIAL DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO THE FREEMEN’S ROLL

To qualify for admission to the Freemen’s Roll, the following documents must be submitted to Llantrisant Town Trust, together with the Form of Claim, no later than 31st March of the year in which the annual Court Leet is held.

If the applicant’s FATHER’S parent (paternal grandparent) is a Freeman:

1. Applicant’s Birth Certificate 

Applicant’s birth certificate [a scanned copy by email is acceptable] showing the names of the parents. No other form of certificate is acceptable. Copies are available from your Registry Office if required.

2. Applicant’s father’s birth certificate

Applicant’s father’s birth certificate [a scanned copy by email is acceptable] showing the names of the parents. No other form of certificate is acceptable. Copies are available from your Registry Office if required.

OR – If the applicant’s MOTHER’S parent (maternal grandparent) is a Freeman:

1. Applicant’s Birth Certificate 

Applicant’s birth certificate [a scanned copy by email is acceptable] showing the names of the parents. No other form of certificate is acceptable. Copies are available from your Registry Office if required.

2. Applicant’s mother’s birth certificate

Applicant’s mother’s birth certificate [a scanned copy by email is acceptable] showing the names of the parents. No other form of certificate is acceptable. Copies are available from your Registry Office if required.

3. Enrolment fee of £100 

Upon receiving your application, our bank details will be emailed for you to make a payment. Alternatively, a cheque (made payable to Llantrisant Town Trust) may be sent to the Guildhall address below.

4. Photograph 

A photograph of the applicant to the Freemen’s Roll is required. This can be submitted with this application or via email to the Trust: clerk@llantrisant.net.

Please Note: we require all of these documents before accepting any enrolment application. Failure to submit them will cause the application to become invalid.

ATTENDANCE AT THE COURT LEET

All applicants are expected to attend in person at the Court Leet, and to be accompanied by a relative or sponsor, so that they may be formally presented and their identity confirmed. Valid reasons for failure to attend the Court Leet must be given in advance and applicants may be enrolled in absentia at the discretion of the Trustees. Trustees may require the attendance of all applicants at the Court Leet.
